High School:  Hardin HS 
(HARDIN, MT)

Cindy Adsit was hired by the WIAA in 1987, making her the longest tenured assistant executive director in the association's history. As an assistant executive director, Ms. Adsit oversees baseball, cheerleading, dance & drill, gymnastics, and volleyball for the WIAA. She also directs all state championships events, sanctions interstate and international contests, produces the Association's annual calendar and handbook and responds to all out-of-season coaching/participation issues. During her career with the WIAA, Ms. Adsit has had the opportunity to oversee every activity and sport under the WIAA jurisdiction, except for football and wrestling.

Before joining the WIAA, Ms. Adsit worked for the Seattle Parks and Recreation Department and officiated basketball and volleyball.  She officiated volleyball at all levels, including Pac-10 and international matches.  Ms. Adsit was the Executive Director of the Northwest Sports Foundation, which promoted sports opportunities for girls and women in the northwest region.  She organized a girls summer basketball league and served as the Director of Basketball for the 1990 Goodwill Games.

Ms. Adsit, a native Montanan, competed in intercollegiate volleyball and basketball for Montana State University and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Nutrition. She was a Master of Science degree candidate in kinesiology at the University of Washington.

Ms. Adsit, an avid outdoorswoman, gardener, historian of the Indian Wars, mother of an adult son and horse owner, lives in Ravensdale.

Assistant Executive Director - Operations

High School:  Governor John R. Rogers HS (PUYALLUP, WA)

Andy Barnes has been a WIAA Assistant Executive Director since 2006.  He was promoted from the WIAA production coordinator position which he served from February 2005 until July 2006.

Mr. Barnes oversees football, swimming and diving, basketball, golf, and tennis.  Mr. Barnes also oversees the Classification process and manages state tournament allocation process.

Mr. Barnes joined the WIAA staff after graduating from Washington State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sports Management and a minor in Business Administration.  While at WSU, Mr. Barnes was part of the Cougar golf team in the spring of 2003.  Mr. Barnes served the WIAA as an intern from May 2004 until October before accepting the production coordinator position.

Mr. Barnes enjoys playing golf and basketball in his spare time.  He lives in Edgewood with his wife, Diana, son, Peyton and daughter, Brynn.

Director of Education and Appeals

High School: Mount Rainier HS (DES MOINES, WA) 


Sam Brown oversees WIAA state and district level Eligibility processes. She is in charge of all documentation regarding student eligibility, as well as guiding coaches, parents and athletic directors through the state level appeals system. Sam works closely with WIAA Legal Cousel, the nine district eligibility chairpersons and the WIAA Hearing Officers. Sam also oversees the hiring of presenters at Coaches School, is an advisor for the student leadership committee (LEAP) and assists with miscelaneous finances and State Tournaments.

Sam is a graduate of Mount Rainier HS in Des Moines, Wa. She received her BA in psychology at Western Washington University and her Master's degree in Educational Leadership (M.Ed) with a focus on interscholastic athletics at the University of Washington. She has coached girls soccer at the varsity level in Seattle Public Schools and continues to coach UNIFIED soccer and basketball.

Chief Financial Officer

High School:  North Mason HS  (BELFAIR, WA)

Leah Francis' primary role is to work with all of the financial and business aspects of the WIAA.  Ms. Francis helps develop and maintain the WIAA's budget, handles the Association's human resource issues, and oversees accounts receivable and accounts payable.  Ms. Francis also provides ticket inventories and controls for all regional and state events.  In addition, Ms. Francis helps maintain the operations of the WIAA office building and surrounding property.  She also oversees insurance and Labor and Industries issues for the WIAA and Washington Official's Association.

Ms. Francis earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Business and Accounting from the University of Washington and earned her Master of Arts degree in Physical Education and Athletic Administration from Seattle Pacific University.  During her time as a Husky, she competed on the UW softball team for four years where she was a member of the 1996 Pac-10 Championship team and the 1996 national runner-up team.  Ms. Francis has coached softball for over 20 years, 15 as the Head Coach at Bellevue College and currently as a Volunteer Assistant Coach at Western Washington University.

Membership & Billing Coordinator

High School:  Evergreen HS  (SEATTLE, WA)

Peter Ho joins the WIAA staff as our Membership and Billing Coordinator. He oversees the annual member school enrollments, surveys, and registrations. Along with updating and maintaining member school information and participation data.
 
Mr. Ho earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Sports Management from Washington State University with a minor in communications. Prior to joining the WIAA, Mr. Ho worked at the Matt Griffin YMCA as the Sport and Recreation Site Supervisor.
 
Mr. Ho enjoys being outdoors and loves basketball. He resides in Burien with his fiancee Isabel.

Executive Director

High School:  Hudson's Bay HS 
(VANCOUVER, WA)

Mick Hoffman is the Executive Director of the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association.  He was named the WIAA's fifth Executive Director in the spring of 2019.    

Serving at virtually every level of the WIAA, Mr. Hoffman most recently held the role of Assistant Superintendent and Chief Operations Officer for Vancouver Public Schools.  Before taking over as an Assistant Superintendent, he served as the District Athletic Director for Vancouver Public Schools from 2007-15.  Mr. Hoffman also represented WIAA District IV on the WIAA Executive Board from 2016-18 where he was a member of the Classification Committee and chaired the WIAA Recruiting Committee.

Mr. Hoffman got his start as a language arts and social studies teacher at Fort Vancouver High School and Hudson’s Bay High School in Vancouver, Washington. He has head coaching experience with boys’ basketball as well as boys’ and girls’ golf.

Mr. Hoffman graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Education before earning a Master’s of Education all from the University of Portland.

Director of Information 

High School:  Washougal HS  (WASHOUGAL, WA)

Casey Johnson is the primary media contact for all WIAA sports and activities and manages the design and production of all WIAA publications.

Mr. Johnson earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in communications with an emphasis in public relations at Washington State University and a Master's degree in kinesiology - behavioral studies from Boise State University. Prior to joining the WIAA in August of 2016, Mr. Johnson worked in the University of Oregon athletic communications office for three years.

Assistant Executive Director - Activities and Eligibility

High School:  Parkersburg South HS 
(PARKERSBURG, WV)


Justin joined the WIAA staff in the summer of 2019 as an Assistant Executive Director after serving as the Tyee High School Athletic Director since 2016.  He was named the 2018-19 2A South Puget Sound League Athletic Director of the Year. He also served time as the Athletics Events Manager at Highline Public Schools and served as both the wrestling commissioner and the League Treasurer for the SPSL and managed coaching standards for schools within the Highline School District.

Mr. Kesterson began his career in the collegiate realm, working as the Assistant Director of Operation and Media Relations at Montana State University – Billings from 2009-2011 before being promoted to Director in 2011.

Mr. Kesterson earned a Bachelor of Arts in Sports Management from Marshall University (WVa) and earned a Master of Sports Administration from Seattle University.

He resides in Issaquah with his wife and their two children.

Director of Marketing 

High School:  Camas HS  (CAMAS, WA)

Andy Knapp develops and oversees the marketing of the WIAA to both internal and external groups.  He works directly with the WIAA's corporate partners to support fulfillment.  Mr. Knapp is in charge of the promoting of school programs, the WIAA and the State Championships.  He also helps run the WIAA's LEAP student leadership committee.

Mr. Knapp earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in English as well as a Sports Medicine minor from Whitman College.  While at Whitman, he competed for four years on the golf team.  Prior to arriving at the WIAA, Mr. Knapp worked in the marketing department for a Northwest golf management company.

Assistant Executive Director - Eligibility and Membership

High School:  Wenatchee HS 
(WENATCHEE, WA)


B.J. joined the WIAA staff in the summer of 2019 as an Assistant Executive Director.  She recently completed her 27th year in education which includes 10 years as a teacher and coach, 12 years as the Wenatchee School District Athletic Director and five years as the Wenatchee High School Dean of Students.  Ms. Kuntz served as the WIAA Distirct 6 Director from 2014-2019.

Ms. Kuntz attended Gonzaga University on a full athletic scholarship for volleyball.  At Gonzaga, she studied physical education/health and received her teaching certification in K-12 PE/Health.  She attained a Master's degree in educational technology and a Principal Certification from City University.

Ms. Kuntz has 6 older brothers and 5 sisters scattered throughout Washington along with one Oregonian.  She is an avid sports fan, spectator of music theater and yard maintenance devotee. She follows the Mariners, Zags and just about any sports on TV. 

She resides in Renton with her partner Sunny. Together they have three adult children.

Operations Coordinator

High School:  Oak Harbor HS 
(OAK HARBOR, WA)

Bryn joined the WIAA staff in August of 2022 as the Operations Coordinator. Bryn helps oversee general support to member schools and the public and also act as the primary liaison for the WIAA Executive Board and Representative Assembly.

Bryn is a double-dawg, earning both a Bachelor’s degree in communication and a Master’s degree in intercollegiate athletic leadership from the University of Washington. Prior to working with the WIAA, she was an Events and Sports Operations Assistant with Long Beach State Athletics.

Bryn enjoys rooting on all Seattle sports teams, playing basketball, and picking up a rotating list of hobbies.

Content Development Specialist

High School:  Arlington HS  (ARLINGTON, WA)

Nick came on board the WIAA staff as an intern in the fall of 2021, before moving to full-time as a Content Development Specialist in 2022. As part of the CoachUp! project and Game Changer's Initiative, he works to implement effective youth development training for WIAA coaches and promote opportunities for women in sport across the state. He also assists in the production of coaches education, social media campaigns, and WIAA State Tournaments.

A 2017 graduate of Arlington High School, Nick completed his BA in sociology at the University of Washington in June of 2021. Currently living in northeast Seattle, Nick enjoys nothing more than a Sunday afternoon’s worth of Seahawks football and pick-up sports.

Facility and Production Coordinator 

High School:  Mount Vernon HS  (MOUNT VERNON, WA)

Aaron Roetcisoender maintains proper mailing databases for all member schools, committee members and related affiliate members.  He coordinates the distribution of books, publications and materials to all member schools and partners.  Mr. Roetcisoender also oversees the WIAA's facility operations and maintenance, capital projects, security, purchasing, safety codes and janitorial, along with programs such as Scholastic Achievement Program, Scholastic Cup, Academic State Champions, Athlete of the Week, Team of the Month, Wall of Fame, Clock Hours, and Coaches Standards/Education.  In addition, he is a leader at the State-level as an Event and Tournament Manager. 

Mr. Roetcisoender received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication, with an emphasis in Public Relations, and a minor in Sports Management at Pacific Lutheran University.  While at college, he also competed four years on the varsity Lutes' baseball team.

Mr. Roetcisoender lives in Tacoma with his wife and two children.
