One of the passed amendments will allow the WIAA Executive Board to waive and modify the constitution outlined in the WIAA Handbook. The amendment is a method of expediting decision-making and change regarding time-sensitive topics. In order for the constitution to be waived, the WIAA Executive Board must be granted approval by a majority of Representative Assembly members.

Additionally, the Executive Board will now have the ability to modify classification policies and procedures as deemed necessary.

Two passed amendments will make adjustments to practice regulations. Representative Assembly voted to allow five practices from one sport to be transferred to another sport in the same season. However the Executive Board will exempt football from this amendment due to safety concerns. Another amendment will adjust the sliding scale for pre-contest practice requirements, making the penalty for consecutive missed practices less severe. Details on the new sliding scale can be found in the full language of the amendment.

Beginning in 2019-20, all schools will be allowed to petition down one classification in football only. Currently, 1B and 2B schools are permitted to opt up or down in football, but a newly passed amendment will now allow for 1A, 2A, 3A and 4A schools to seek permission from the Executive Board to opt-down. The rationale of this amendment seeks added flexibility for scheduling purposes as well as increased competitive equity.

A trio of sport-specific amendments was passed, Monday. Basketball teams at the 1B and 2B varsity level will be allowed to play two games in a day under certain conditions in an effort to help with scheduling of preseason tournaments. A fifth quarter may be played by any subvarsity football squads following a contest, expanding on the current rule which allows a fifth quarter from freshmen teams. Lastly, warm up procedures for regular season volleyball contests will be consistent with those included in the WIAA Bound for State Volleyball Regulations.

Representative Assembly also approved a high school membership fee increase of $10 per activity and $0.25 per student. It approved a middle level school membership fee increase of $5 per activity and $0.10 per student.

These eight amendments join the other two amendments that were passed earlier this year in January.
