WIAA Releases 2016 Proposed Amendments
1/11/2016

RENTON, Wash. – The Washington Interscholastic Activities Association announced the proposal of 13 amendments for the 2016-17 school year to be voted upon by the WIAA Representative Assembly.

To view a summary of each of the 13 amendments, please CLICK HERE.  The specific wording of each amendment will be finalized during discussion at the Winter Coalition on Monday, March 21.

The Representative Assembly is comprised of 53 elected school administrators that represent each of the nine WIAA districts.   35 of the representatives are high school administrators, while 18 are middle level administrators.  For an amendment to pass, a super majority or 60 percent approval is required.

The Winter Coalition is an annual meeting attended by league presidents and the WIAA Representative Assembly.  During the Winter Coalition, each of the 13 proposed amendments will be discussed.  The proposed amendments may also be amended during the meeting.  Voting on the amendments will take place online in April by the Representative Assembly.

The middle level administrators will vote on three middle level amendments, while the high school administrators will vote on five.  The two levels will combine to vote for five amendments.

For questions about the amendments or the rules making process, please contact the WIAA office.
