1/4/2016
RENTON – The WIAA is pleased to announce Almira Coulee Hartline’s Dallas Isaak and Okanogan’s Jill Townsend as the featured Activities Matter Student Spotlights for the month of December.
Isaak led the Almira Coulee Hartline Warriors to the 2015 1B State Football Championship over Lummi Nation, 46-42. He earned WIAA Athlete of the Week honors for his performance in the Title game, in which he scored two touchdowns, rushed for 185 yards and led the team in tackles (12.5).
Townsend is a junior at Okanogan High School and a standout three-sport athlete. She earned WIAA Athlete of the Week honors after guiding the Bulldogs to the 2B Girls Soccer State Title, scoring three goals in the final against Crosspoint Academy.
The WIAA launched its Activities Matter page at the start of the 2015 school year. The page is designed to be a resource for member schools and their communities to support the case for interscholastic sports and activities. Activities Matter consolidates a variety of dynamic resources, programs, and original content to highlight the long-term benefits associated with student participation in sports and activities.
The monthly “Student Spotlight” section is dedicated to highlighting two student participant success stories from around the state. The chosen students are selected from the pool of Athlete of the Week winners.
