WIAA Names Endeavor’s Cruz, Central Kitsap’s Morley as Give Me 5 Star Students of the Month
11/4/2015

RENTON, Wash. – The WIAA is pleased to announce Endeavor Middle School’s Jorge Cruz and Central Kitsap Middle School’s Allison Morley as the "Give Me 5" Star Students of the Month.

The monthly campaign is dedicated to highlighting two middle school students that demonstrate the core principles of the program; honor, sportsmanship, courage, respect, and citizenship.

Cruz is an eighth grader at Endeavor Middle School in Moses Lake. Jorge is active in football, wrestling and basketball. Jorge was nominated by his Athletic Director, Clint Scriven, for being a role model in the classroom and as a student-athlete.

In addition to his success on the field, Jorge is the current ASB president. Head football coach, James Barnett, stated that Jorge has been a “consistent on-and-off the field student-athlete leader for two football seasons,” and that “his consistent leadership, positive attitude, and hard work earned him the title of Practice Captain.”

Morley is an eighth grader at Central Kitsap Middle School in Silverdale.  Allison is active in volleyball, basketball and choir.  Allison was nominated by her volleyball coach, Kim Carroll, for her sportsmanship, honor and courage in both athletics and at the school.  Allison possesses a great positive and “bubbly” attitude and is always willing to help her fellow teammates and classmates.  In addition to her activities, Allison is a "Straight A" student, taking honors classes.

The students will be featured on the Activities Matter website.

The Activities Matter website was launched at the beginning of the 2015 school year and is designed to be a resource for member schools and their communities to support the case for interscholastic sports and activities. Activities Matter consolidates a variety of dynamic resources, programs, and original content to highlight the long-term benefits associated with student participation in sports and activities.

The Middle Level website is dedicated to the middle level student.  Recognizing the unique developmental needs of the middle level student, the website offers resources on participation, skill building, and sportsmanship.
