WIAA Visits Children's Hospital For Reverse Trick-or-Treat
10/28/2011

Renton, Wash. - For the sixth-straight year, members of the WIAA staff volunteered their time to visit patients at the Seattle Children’s Hospital for their annual Reverse Trick or Treat on Monday, Oct. 24.

For the event, which started in 2006, the WIAA staff dress up in a themed costume and bring Halloween to the children by substituting candy with arts and crafts activities.  The theme this year was “Happy Days” (50’s) and the arts and crafts project was building picture frames. The staff joined the rest of the Seattle Children’s Hospital volunteers in the Playroom during two different sessions.

“It brings happiness to the kids and puts smiles on their faces,” noted Cindy Adsit, Assistant Executive Director of the WIAA who has volunteered each year. “We want them to feel good about themselves for those that are there to participate.”

This event brings a change of pace for the children from their daily routine. Seattle Children’s Hospital expects to continue to bring in groups or organizations annually to help out. Anyone can volunteer whether it is group readings or creating arts and crafts. Choosing to do this event around a holiday makes it entertaining for both parties.

To volunteer please contact Seattle Children’s at (206) 987-4133.
