The Bush School is in search of an individual to join our Athletic Department as the Varsity Track and Field Assistant Coach. We are seeking a candidate who is able to support the school’s goals towards building a diverse, equitable, and inclusive community. We believe that a diversity of experiences, backgrounds, and talents are necessary to work with a diverse community of students, faculty, staff, and families; we encourage diversity in our applicant pool.
The Bush School athletic program works within the rules of the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association (WIAA) and the Emerald Sound Conference to provide athletic opportunities and competition for students of all gender identities. While most sports are offered separately for boys and girls, the Athletic Department staff is committed to working collaboratively with each participant to determine options that best suit each student-athlete’s journey.
The Varsity Track Assistant Coach will assist with planning and executing team practices, coaching all scheduled meets, overseeing inventory of sports equipment and uniforms, and driving the team to away games/practice sites on a school vehicle. This position reports directly to the Athletic Director.
The season begins on Monday, March 3, 2025, and continues until May 2025. Practices take place on Mondays through Fridays at The Bush School, or Cleveland’s High School Track, from 3:45pm to 6:00pm; however, no longer than two hours on a given day. Meets are typically played on weekday afternoons, and occasionally on Saturdays. Coaches meet the players at Bush, travel to the practice/contest site together, and drop the athletes back at school at the end of each day.
