Varsity Head Volleyball Coach
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: • Create an enthusiastic, tight-knit, supportive, hard-working, motivating, character-based, and fun team culture that attracts student participation. • Build a culture of success through a values-based framework. • Supervise and instruct sport-specific skills, techniques, strategies and related aspects of athleticism, fitness, health, nutrition, sleep, etc.), utilizing encouraging and age-appropriate methods. • Model respectful and professional interaction with athletes, colleagues, parents/guardians, opponents, officials, etc., • Communicate program information and keep parents/guardians informed and updated through (at least) weekly in-season email correspondence. Cultivate connected and supportive relationships with parents/guardians more generally • Teach and reinforce sportsmanship and the importance of all team roles among athletes. • Foster positive and professional relationships and enthusiasm with athletes as well as parents/guardians, colleagues, officials, etc. • Establish and maintain clear direction and goals for the program, consistent with the NWS culture and community, articulating philosophy, goals, and expectations verbally and in writing with players and parents/guardians. • Communicate closely with Athletic Director regarding logistical and philosophical plans and details. • Lead and work collaboratively with program coaches and other colleagues. • Maintain WIAA coaching standard compliance and continually develop coaching expertise. • Daily availability during the season for practices and competitions, and occasionally on weekends as needed. • Understand and adhere to NWS Coaching Handbook protocol and WIAA/NFHS sport rules and regulations. • Be an energetic self-starter in addressing all details of leading a thriving high school program. • Current training in First Aid, CPR, concussion management, and sudden cardiac arrest. • Clear Washington State Background check. • Desired but not required: Willing and able to drive a small, non-CDL bus for practices and contests.
Compensation/Details: Competitive coaching stipend, based on experience. This is a stipend only position. Season starts August 25 and ends early/mid-November. There is the opportunity for summer coaching as well, and this is highly encouraged.
