Eastside Catholic School, a member of the Metro League in the WIAA, is accepting applications for a high school head cheer coach reporting to the athletic director.
POSITION Eastside Catholic is seeking an experienced and passionate Head Cheer Coach to lead our highly competitive cheer program. Our team competes at the state and national level while also supporting school athletic programs through sideline cheer. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in competitive cheerleading, leadership skills, and the ability to develop athletes both technically and personally in a high-performance environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Program Leadership & Development: • Oversee all aspects of the cheerleading program, including competition and sideline cheer. • Develop and implement practice plans to enhance stunting, tumbling, jumps, dance, and overall routine execution. • Create a culture of excellence, discipline, teamwork, and sportsmanship while modeling behavior that exemplifies our EC Core Covenants (True Competitor, Integrity, Accountability and Family) • Oversee all practices, games and competitions and provide a positive and competitive experience for team members • Ensure all athletes learn all aspects of the sport and have opportunities to develop skills in practice and at games or competitions • Establish and clearly communicate team expectations and hold athletes accountable for attendance, attitude, and effort. • Hire and manage staff, including varsity assistant coach and specialty coaches, as needed
Competition and Sideline Coaching: • Coordinate tryouts, team selection, and skill development throughout the season. • Ensure compliance with WIAA/NFHS rules and regulations for competition and sideline cheer. • Choreograph and clean routines for local, state, and national-level competitions. • Schedule and attend competitions, including securing music, uniforms, and travel logistics. Sideline and School Spirit Responsibilities: • Prepare and lead cheer performances at football, basketball, and other school events. • Collaborate with school administration and student groups to enhance school spirit. • Work with ASB and Student Life to create a fun, game-day atmosphere and to build and grow school spirit at EC
Athlete Development and Safety: • Prioritize skill-building, conditioning, and sports IQ with a focus on athlete health, safety, and injury prevention, ensuring proper technique and progression. • Conduct summer practices and conditioning to develop and prepare athletes for the upcoming season. • Attend and provide team supervision at all high school practices, games and competitions. • Facilitate planned camps or clinics. • Foster team bonding and leadership development opportunities. • Assists athletes in setting and achieving personal and team goals. • Supports athletes in academics, mental well-being, personal growth, and future opportunities. • Maintain a strong relationship with the school’s athletic training staff for injury management. Administrative Duties: • Communicate essential information (team news, practice changes, game changes, etc) effectively with athletes, parents, administration, and the community. • Work with parent group to coordinate and plan fundraising, community service and team bonding events. • Support all fundraising efforts. • Coordinate team uniform ordering and distribution. • Ensure all athletes meet academic eligibility and adhere to team and school policies. • Perform other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director
PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS • Previous experience as a head cheer coach, both sideline and competitive cheer required. • Previous experience as a cheerleader, collegiate or high school; collegiate experience preferred. • Mature, responsible and self-motivated individual with a positive coaching style. • Strong communication and leadership skills. • Strong vision for developing our high school cheer program. • Ability to work effectively with Athletic Department staff and other support members and coaches. • Availability for evenings, weekends, travel, and extended hours during competition season. • Other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director.

This role is primarily a fall and winter season position in addition to tryouts in April, summer camp and summer conditioning and workouts.
Stipend DOE ($4,000-5,000 per season, paid fall season and winter season)
