Event: 2023 Dance/Drill State Championships
Location: Yakima Valley SunDome
Date: March 24 (1A/2A/3A) & March 25 (4A), 2022

THANK YOU for your support of this WIAA/Gesa Credit Union State Championship event. The following information is provided in order to make the experience more enjoyable for you and everyone at the event.

SCHEDULE
  • Friday, March 24 - 1A/2A/3A
  • Saturday, March 25 - 4A
  • Performance Order and Floor Times will be posted on the Dance/Drill Tournament Central
  • Doors open one hour prior to the first performance
  • 40-minute scheduled dinner break (subject to change based on cadence of the event)
  • Drill Down, Closing Ceremonies, Awards follow the final performance. Fans are encouraged to bring glow-in-the-dark items for the Closing Ceremonies.
YAKIMA VALLEY SUNDOME INFORMATION - Check the Central Washington Fairgrounds website for directions, a map of the facility and fairgrounds, and a link for Yakima lodging options.

PARKING is $10.00 per space per day.The public entrance is on the south side of the SunDome. With several concession options, no outside food may be brought into the facility. All bags are subject to search. RV Parking information is available HERE.

 
TICKET PRICES
Ticket windows will open one hour prior to the first performance of the day. Valid ASB card must be presented for student price.
 
LIVE STREAM
State Dance/Drill will be webcast LIVE on the NFHS Network. Non-sanctioned streaming of any WIAA State event is PROHIBITED. Any such action is a direct violation of WIAA/NFHS media rights and will not be allowed. This includes Facebook, YouTube and other similar streaming services.
  
WIAA TOURNAMENT CREDENTIALS
All spectators using WIAA passes (paper or plastic) to attend the event must enter through the Pass Gate.  This includes: teams, event staff, media, corporate partners, and awards presenters.  Anyone attempting to enter with a fraudulent event pass will be denied entry and may be subject to criminal trespass arrest. Anyone found with a fraudulent pass inside the facility will be removed and will be subject to criminal trespass arrest.

SUPERVISORS
The school principal will appoint at least one school personnel member to supervise the school’s fans.
 
  
 

 
The WIAA supports social justice, racial equity, and sportsmanship. Derogatory cheers, slurs, & hateful comments relating to identity (race, ethnicity, gender expression, disability, religion) are not permitted and will result in immediate removal.  Tournament managers and WIAA event personnel have the authority to remove individuals for inappropriate behavior or comments.
 
If you witness any of the above behavior from those in attendance, you can report the incident to the WIAA via the Bias Reporting Form.
 
BALLOONS, SILLY STRING, AND ARTIFICIAL NOISEMAKERS are prohibited and will be confiscated. Band instruments are to be used only for playing music under the direction of the conductor and cheerleaders only may use megaphones.
 
CHEERS
Only school district accepted cheers may be used at appropriate times. Cheers and chants are to be directed only toward the school’s team. Cheers or yells with degrading opponent implications and profanity will not be allowed.
 
CLEAN-UP
If outside paraphernalia is brought into the facility, schools may be billed for any additional clean-up costs.
 
DRONES/"UAV" POLICY
The use of unmanned aerial vehicles (“UAV”), also known as drones, is prohibited for any purpose by any persons at WIAA tournament venues. Tournament management shall refuse admission or entry to anyone attempting to use a UAV; and if necessary, tournament management shall remove anyone attempting to use a UAV and/or confiscate the UAV until the event has been completed.
 
For purposes of this policy, a UAV is any aircraft without a human pilot aboard the device.
 
An exception to this policy may be made in specific cases for WIAA broadcast partners, provided the management of the tournament facility permits the presence of UAVs for broadcast purposes under the control of the WIAA.

SIGNS
Tournament sponsors, broadcast media coverage, official school banners and hand held signs that are positive and directed only toward the school’s team are permitted. Run through signs are not permitted.

STANDING POLICY
Standing for prolonged lengths of time and/or blocking the sight line of the judges is prohibited.

SPECTATOR AND PARTICIPANT SEATING
Spectators will enter through the south doors of the Yakima Valley SunDome.

  • After purchasing an admission ticket, spectators with a two-day ticket will be processed through one line, while spectators with a single-day ticket will be processed through a different line.
  • All spectators will have equal, first-come, first served-access for seats
  • Participants and spectators may not block or reserve seats
  • Teams will perform facing west with the west and south sides of the Yakima Valley SunDome designated for spectators
  • The first row in Sections 6 & 8 will be designated as a special viewing area during each performance for the coaches and non-performing team members for that performance only
  • The east side of the Yakima Valley SunDome will be designated for participating teams




Souvenir programs will be available for purchase with a credit/debit card throughout the tournament.
 
Team and action photography will be available from Northwest Sports Photography and State Tournament merchandise and apparel will be on sale throughout the tournament and online through Rush Team Apparel.
